Notwithstanding the great use of breastfeeding still there is time when the breastfeeding should be stopped. But what about ladies who breastfeed their babies almost till going to school? Here are some thoughts about breast feeding toddler.

As the modern mothers are very busy and breastfeed rather unwillingly such a thing as breast feeding toddler is very rare nowadays. But still it happens that some mothers keep breastfeeding till their baby is six years old. Do you think it is odd? But in fact it’s not.

From the things which I have found, modern pediatricians recommend very long breast feeding. They say that the minimum age breast feeding should be 2.5 years. The experienced pediatricians support breast feeding toddler very much. Lots of people think that breast feeding toddler is just baby’s caprice and stop breastfeeding whenever they think it is time. But the doctors say that the reason of such a long desire of a baby to get breast feeding (till six years old, for example) is not a caprice but the real necessity of child’s health and emotional state and other factors.

Sometimes breast feeding toddler happens because a mother and a baby like breastfeeding very much and do not want to stop it. But why it should be stopped, if it brings happiness to both of them?

Today I have read some odd piece of news. It was written about one lady who stopped breastfeeding her child only when he was six years old. She has been breastfeeding him in public until he was three, and continued doing it in private till he was six years old. Such information a bit puzzled me. I could not judge for myself whether it is good or bad. I have not decided till this moment.

On the one hand, breastfeeding is a very useful food for every organism especially for a young one. It contains all the necessary vitamins and elements which help a child to become a healthy and strong person.
But on the other hand our society seems to make us think that such a long breastfeeding is not normal and even freakish. People do not have a great approval of such a long-termed breastfeeding. For example, I do not know whether my husband would like the fact that his rather big son is still drinking mother’s milk. I really doubt that he would like it. And I also would feel uncomfortable when my baby would ask me to breastfeed him somewhere in public, for example when I will be taking the child from the school or kindergarten.
