Selling Breast Milk or What to Do with Extra Milk

Selling Breast MilkToday I have read at one forum about a lady who wanted to sell her breast milk but did not know how to do it. At this forum people have written that selling breast milk is illegal (at least in some states of the USA).

So, what to do if a woman has too much of breast milk and do not wish just to dump it out?

  1. A lady can offer her milk to some of her nursing friend who has not enough of breast milk for her baby. I mean that a mother will not be selling breast milk but just will be giving it for free or exchanging it for some other useful things.
  2. Instead of selling breast milk, an overproducing mother can donate her milk to some special institutions which accept such donations. But from the information which I have read I saw that people suppose that such institutions are selling breast milk which they have been donated. That is why people refuse giving breast milk donations to such places.
  3. A mother can also try to find a lady herself and try to organize selling breast milk to this lady secretly. But it is not easy to find a purchaser, I suppose.
